Starters Instruction Sheet.
Be very stern and make the kids listen right from the beginning. You are
so important to this Championship.
Have players get in a circle. Have players shake hands and introduce themselves to each other. Give all players and spectators a copy of the
spectator policy. Hand players their own scorecards and pin sheets. Have players
identify golf balls and show each other their ball. You will be supplied with a
marking pen. Have players hand their scorecard to their left. Tell them the
order of play.
1. Yardage markers on sprinkler heads are to the middle of the green.
2. 150-yard markers are to the middle of the green.
3. Hole location sheets are in paces.
4. Hand out hole location and rule sheets prior to teeing off.
5. Ask players to count their clubs.
6.
Please welcome the group and spectators. Announce the contestant’s name and
hometown, State or Country before teeing off. On the International players do
not bother to say the city because you might not be able to pronounce it just
mention the Country. Some of the names will be hard enough.
7. Make sure the scorecards are correct and if a player does not have an
official scorecard, please fill in a blank one with the following. Name, age and tee time.
8. Starter must hand in all scorecards that are unused and report
changes of each group. (No shows or WDs.)
9. Tell players in case of inclement weather (lightning).
Discontinue play 2 long blasts
Resume play 3 blasts. We will have in place an evacuation policy in case of
weather emergency and it is needed to remove the players from the course.
10. Remind players that if there is any doubts as to procedure (and
there is no official around), to play a second ball. Rule 3-3.
11. Embedded ball rule is in effect through the green. A ball embedded
in its own pitch- mark in the ground through the green, except in loose sand, may be
lifted, cleaned and dropped, without penalty, as near as possible to the spot where it lay
but not nearer the hole. Rule 25-2.
12. Please remind players not to talk with spectators.
13. One ball rule is not in effect.
14. Remind players of pace of play.
Tell them to not lose sight of the group in front.
15.
Spectators may act as fore caddy.
After they all hit please
tell them to enjoy the competition.
